How to work with me?
With the exception of the "sign and go" service, every wedding ceremony begins with a free, no obligation meeting. Once you contact me by phone or email, we'll schedule about an hour to sit down together, either in person or by Zoom, to talk over your wants and needs. There is no charge for this meeting, and you will be under no obligation.
You'll need to think through some questions about how you came to decide that marriage was right for you. What kind of service do you envision? Short or medium-long (nobody want a long service). Faith-based, secular, or a blend. Serious or light-hearted. Do you want to write it yourself, let me write it, or let me help you through it? Do you want music? Exchange of rings? How many guests do you expect? Have you chosen a venue? How do you want to be addressed during the service (eg., "Donald" or "Donny.") We'll work through a simple checklist to make sure we cover all the details.
We can have a brief service with just the three of us in front of the courthouse. Or maybe you want to invite a couple of other people, or a group of 20 or so, or even 500 or more guests. It's your day, so it's' up to you!
Once I have an understanding of the amount of time and travel required, I'll quote you a firm fee. I require a 50% refundable deposit by cash, check or Venmo to reserve the date on my calendar. The balance due at the ceremony.
You need to obtain your marriage license at the courthouse, and bring it to the ceremony, along with picture ID's. We'll briefly meet before we get started to check over the license and look at your ID's. We will then be ready to start your ceremony.
Afterwards, I will take responsibility for returning your marriage license to the Clerk.
